The main material of automotive sealing strips includes EPDM, which is a material with good weather resistance, heat resistance, ozone resistance, and UV resistance, and is easy to process and shape. In addition to EPDM, car sealing strips are also commonly used with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), but in some countries and regions, the use of PVC made sealing strips has been restricted or prohibited due to the environmental issues and potential impact on human health of PVC.
In addition, there are also thermoplastic elastomers (TPE/TPV), which do not require vulcanization during the processing and are easy to achieve cross-sectional control with less environmental pollution. However, their current application is limited and mainly used for window side strips and window guide grooves
